Alicante is the second largest town in the Costa Blanca region.

In July and August there is an International Festival in the plaza del Puerto Viejo, which offers ballet and theatre performances, as well as world-class recitals of jazz and classical music.
Cooking & drinking
Alicantes market garden has a huge variety of vegetables and the seafood and fish are captured every day. The meat and cured sausages are produced in the nearby mountains. In the cuisine of Alicante, these ingredients are mostly used with rice. Thats why Alicante also has many rice-restaurants.
Nougat is one of the most famous dessert of Alicante, which is usually eaten around Christmas but extraordinary at any season. The soft nougat is called 'Jijona' and the hard nougat is called 'Alicante'.
There are also the Alicante Denomination of Origin wines.
Weather
Alicante is an ideal place in the winter. In this period the temperature can be around 14°C.
Between May and October the weather in Alicante is guaranteed to be warm and sunny. In the months July and August it can be approximately 32°C.
